November 16, 2022, the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Beijing in collaboration with China Cement Association held ‘’Ethiopian Cement Industry investment forum’’.
In a speech delivered at the forum, H.E. Ambassador Teshome Toga said that, Ethiopia is one of the highest cement consumer nations in Africa next to Nigeria and South Africa, and the annual cement demand rate is relatively higher compared to other Sub-Saharan- African nations.
The Ambassador added that, infrastructures that has undertaken by Chinese public and private enterprises in the areas of roads, railways, industrial parks, schools, health facilities are making a real difference in the lives of Ethiopians and in making Ethiopia a competitive and attractive destination for foreign direct investment.
Ambassador Teshome also stated that, Ethiopia, being the second most populous country in Africa and fastest growing economy, is also a major market for Chinese products in Africa, provides abundant investment opportunity for Chinese enterprises,
Ethiopia still presents a lot of opportunities due to enabling tailor made incentives, government and private sector developed industrial parks and many more that make it an attractive investment destination, he added.
Finally Ambassador Teshome called upon Chinese companies to take the opportunity and share the benefit in the interest of shared future.
Mr. Kong Xiangzhong, Executive President of China Cement Association (CCA), on his part introduced the CCA and strengthened the importance between CCA and Ethiopia, and expressed his willingness to invite more Chinese business to invest in Ethiopia and keen to work jointly with the embassy until the discussion fruitful.
