On 01 September 2022, the Embassy participated in the “China World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development”, held in Beijing and co-organized by Beijing City Municipal Administration and World Tourism Cities Federation.
Ambassador Teshome Toga attended the panel discussion at the conference and introduced Ethiopia’s historical and natural heritages as well as the country’s tourist attractions to the forum participants. He added that the government is currently focusing on expanding new tourist destinations. In addition, as China is the top outbound tourist source country in the world, he invited Chinese tourists to visit Ethiopia.
Moreover, the ambassador recalled that Ethiopian Airlines, which is the pride of Africa, flies to five Chinese cities and that a simple and efficient visa system is implemented in the country and called on the Chinese government to continue supporting the comprehensive efforts of African countries to develop their tourism resources.
Representatives of 49 countries, 12 International tourism offices and 80 member cities of the Federation of International Tourism Cities participated in the conference.
