H.E. Ambassador Tefera Derbew, Ethiopian Ambassador to China participated at the 6th Belt and Road Forum for Traditional Chinese Medicine Development, Co-organized by National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and People’s Government of Beijing Municipality.
During his speech delivered at the forum, Ambassador Tefera mentioned that both China and Ethiopia shares historical similarities and ancient wisdom in development of traditional medicine. He also further stressed that Chinese government consistent effort to integrate the traditional medicine with modern medicines through constant academic innovations has enabled the Traditional Chinese Medicine to get global popularity.
Ambassador also mentioned that Ethiopia has been one of the major exporters of natural herbs used for production of traditional Chinese medicines, most notably, mastic and myrrh.
Referring to the abundance of the natural resource, he called up on Chinese companies to utilize resource by investing in Ethiopia’s Pharmaceuticals Industry.
