Ambassador Teshome Toga urges Chinese companies to explore investment opportunities in Agro-processing and mining in Ethiopian
September 07, 2022 Ambassador Teshome Toga visited Agro-processing and Mining companies in Nanjing city. During the visit of Jiangsu Tianwei Agricultural Co. Ltd, including the company’s rice fields and fully automated rice mill, Ambassador commended the experience and work of the company and urged the company to explore the favorable conditions that exist in Ethiopia for investment. The conducive ecological zones and fertile land in Ethiopia that permit a wide range of agricultural production including a young and vibrant population make the country a good destination for investment, Ambassador said.
As agro-processing is a priority sector for investment set by the government, Ambassador also explained that the government has built industrial parks in various parts of the country that have all the necessary infrastructure and invited the company to visit Ethiopia.
Ambassador Teshome also visited and discussed with the management team of Sinoma International and Sinoma Mining, subsidiaries of China National Building Material Group, on how the company expands its business in Ethiopia and on the current internal situation of Ethiopia.
Mentioning that, Ethiopia remains open for business with important reforms undertaken by the government to make the investment environment attractive. With vast resources in mining, Ambassador also encouraged the company to conduct exploratory visits to Ethiopia and work on mining sector with the benefit from the various incentives the government offers for foreign investors.
