On April 20, 2022, Ambassador Teshome Toga held discussion on current internal situation of Ethiopia and on the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and China with Ambassador Lin Songtian – President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), which is the top leading think-tank institution in China.
During their discussion, Ambassador Teshome briefed Ambassador Lin Songtian on the war in Northern Ethiopia, on the unjustified Western pressure campaign on Ethiopia, and on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) construction project.
Ambassador Teshome noted that the two countries enjoy a strong relationship and called on CPAFFC to help provide medicine and medical equipments to hospitals and medical centers located in the war torn part of Northern Ethiopia. As many countries around the world are recovering from COVID-19 pandemic, he also called on CPAFFC to encourage more Chinese investment to Ethiopia to fast track the country’s economic development.
Ambassador Lin Songtian on his part thanked Ambassador Teshome for briefing him on Ethiopia’s current internal situation and noted that China gives a higher value to the relationship it has with Ethiopia and that it is a model one for China’s relationship with the rest of African countries. He added that China will continue to strengthen its cooperation and assist Ethiopia in all sectors
