127th anniversary of the Victory of Adwa celebrated colorfully at the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing, under the theme of “unity, bravery and endurance”. At the event, Ethiopian Community as well as Ethiopian and other African Students who have learned in different Chinese Universities have attended. Ethiopians who were not able to attend in person, celebrated the occasion by participating in the Webinar.
Speaking at the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Dawano Kedir, Deputy Head of Mission and who is currently Chargé d’affaire of Ethiopian Embassy, said that, the victory of Adwa is an expression of freedom and honour not only for Ethiopian but also for African and all black people across the world. He emphasized that, the victory has been a great contribution to inspiring to fight against the colonial oppressors in Africa.
H.E. Ambassador Muhammad Seid, the Head of Public & Political diplomacy of Ethiopian Embassy briefed historical overview on the Battle of Adwa and its impact on the anti-colonial and independence movements of black peoples in Africa and beyond.
A panel discussion, a flag-raising ceremony as well as Poem and Ethiopian traditional songs were part of the colorful event. Traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies were also showcased to the participants.
