Wolaita Sodo University (WSU) and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) held virtual discussions organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing on 24 March 2022 with the aim of further enhancing their bilateral partnership under the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
During the discussion Ambassador Teshome Toga thanked and appreciated the two Universities keen interest to partner with each other and reiterated that the education sector development is the most important and a primary focus area of the Ethiopian government. He added that cooperation in the education sector is also one of China’s major priorities under the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He also noted that the Embassy will provide all the necessary assistance to both Universities to see the success of this partnership.
Dr. Mulatu Dea, Vice President of Academic Affairs of Wolaita Sodo University thanked the Embassy for making the efforts to bring the two universities to a closer partnership and said WSU keen and is ready to engage in a partnership collaboration with FAFU in areas of personnel development, technology exchange, multidisciplinary programs and trainings, staff and students exchange, and joint research projects.
Professor Zheng Baodong, Vice President of International Cooperation and Partnership of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University on his part also thanked the Embassy and noted that FAFU is ready to make partnership and collaborate with WSU in all areas of identified interests. He also announced that FAFU will provide free scholarship opportunities annually.
The two Universities will soon be signing an MoU to further enhance their partnership.
