The FDRE Embassy in China attended the Global Forum on Soil Health & the Workshop on China-Horn of Africa Agricultural Cooperation

The FDRE Embassy in China has attended the Global Forum on Soil Health held in Yangling, Shaanxi, China from September 19 to 20/2023. About 160 delegates from 32 countries including representatives from the Horn of African countries, international organizations, the private sector and non-governmental organizations were present in this important forum that has focused on deliberations centered on thematic, ‘Soil Health and Food Security’. The discussion underlined that soil health is a global concern and that further international action, cooperation and joint response by all stakeholders and at all levels is required to revert current soil degradation processes and recover healthy soils.
In a related workshop held in Yangling on China-Horn of Africa Agricultural Cooperation on the 20th of September 2023, the representative of the Embassy has conveyed a message that portrayed the Ethiopian government policies and strategies implemented in ADLI and recently further solidified by the Green Legacy initiative program and the need for international cooperation on this critical issue of global concern.
The workshop was chaired by H.E. Mr.Xue Bing, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. Relevant authorities of Shaanxi province, resident Ambassadors and diplomats from Horn of African countries as well as university international scholars participated in the workshop. In the mean time on place field observations and Interesting visits to Yangling Agricultural High Tech Achievement Expo have also been conducted for the purpose of experience sharing and cooperation.
