H.E Ambassador Tefera Derbew, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to China received and held discussions with Mr. Yan Change, director at the department of National Development and Reform Commission of P.R.C alongside with his team.
H.E Ambassador Tefera derbew thanked the team for coming to the Embassy and exchanging ideas and concrete projects that need to be translated into action.
Ambassador appreciated the commitment demonstrated by NDRC to discuss various projects with Ethiopian counterparts. Ethiopia is active participant and member of Belt and Road Initiative and as a result, it can be taken as a role model for a success of BRI in Africa, said Ambassador Tefera.
Ethiopia has registered a remarkable result in the overall infrastructure projects through Belt and Road partners. During Belt and Road cooperation Forum which took place in October 2023, several Memorandum of understanding has been signed between Ethiopia and China, he added. He also stressed the need to put the MOU into practice by galvanizing both parties into action.
Mr. Yan Change, on behalf of the team expressed his gratitude for being warmly received at the office and highlighted more than 20 projects that the team wants to discuss and negotiate in person with relevant Ethiopian government office. Mr. Yan Change discussed issues in detail about the team of delegations that are supposed to go to Ethiopia at the end of March. He also requested the support of the Embassy to facilitate and provide the necessary assistance to the delegations.
Finally, Ambassador Tefera agreed to provide any necessary support to the delegations that are assigned to go to Ethiopia for discussion and negotiation on various projects with Ethiopian counterparts.
