On June 7, 2023, H.E. Ambassador Tefera Derbew, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the People’s Republic of China, discussed with Mrs. Zhiling Wei, the Senior Vice President of Geely Holding Group, on ways of investing in Ethiopia.
The ambassador briefed on the potential and the incentives that have been given in Ethiopia. He mentioned that, Ethiopian government has committed to assist foreign enterprises in creating a conducive business environment in Ethiopia.
Mrs. Zhiling Wei, on her part, stated that Geely is a well-known brand company that has a huge investment and market in the world. She also mentioned that Ethiopia, as the second-most populous country and the gateway to Africa, will provide a great opportunity for Geely Automobile Company to invest and to have an access in entering the market.
Finally, the Ambassador assured Geely Holding Group that the embassy is always ready to assist and collaborate until it establishes the assembly plant in Ethiopia.
A Geely Holding Group-affiliated company called Lynk & Co. has shown its new brand of electric car that will be launched next week.
