Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing Hosted Ethio-China Business Forum

On June 25, 2024, the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing hosted the Ethio-China Business Forum. During the forum, Ambassador Dewano Kedir, Deputy Head of the Mission, delivered a keynote speech highlighting Ethiopia’s investment and trade opportunities, expressed that since the beginning of the China-Africa Partnership in 2000, China has been a leading source of foreign direct investment and a major trading partner for Ethiopia.

On the other hand, Ethiopia is the second most populous country and one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa, provides a substantial market for Chinese products and ample investment opportunities for Chinese enterprises.

Additionally, Ambassador Dewano spoke about the bilateral relations between the two countries, noting that the two leaders elevated their ties to an all-weather strategic partnership in October 2023. Making Ethiopia the only country in Africa to have such a partnership with China.

He also discussed the “Light Up Villages” program, a significant initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods of people and advancing the industrialization of Ethiopia. The program has received approval and support from seven Ethiopian government institutions, including the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Mines, and the Ministry of Agriculture etc.
In conclusion, he invited Chinese investors to join hands and contribute to further boosting the economic relationship between the two countries.
